CASE STUDY:

COVID-19 Safety Signage

Challenge

Communicating evolving COVID safety protocols to diverse library users across multiple locations, ensuring compliance while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.

My Role

Designed a comprehensive wayfinding and safety signage system including directional signs, capacity limits, mask requirements, and health screening information.

Solution

I created a clear, accessible signage system using a calm yet authoritative visual identity. The design was distinct from the library's standard branding to signal important health information, while maintaining visual connection to ensure users recognized the familiar, trusted voice of library staff. Modular templates enabled staff to quickly update messaging as guidelines changed.

Results

  • Enabled safe library operations throughout the pandemic

  • Reduced staff time answering operational and safety questions

  • Maintained accessibility and welcoming tone during a stressful period
