Inviting Outdoor Signage

Environmental graphics and awareness campaign for an underused amenity

Challenge

Although the outdoor community space offered free Wi-Fi, study pods, picnic areas, and a community garden, its location away from the main entrance meant many users overlooked it. The challenge was to make the space more visible, inviting, and integrated into the overall experience.

Solution

The visual design focused on creating an intuitive and welcoming experience through environmental graphics and signage. Understanding visitor movement patterns informed the use of visual cues to support discovery, orientation, and accessibility.

Cohesive signage pairs brand-aligned colors with nature-inspired motifs, creating a system that blends with the environment while maintaining connection to the organization's established identity. A multi-channel awareness campaign—including digital signage, a webpage, map, and table signs—encourages users inside the building to explore the outdoor amenities.

Results

  • 30% increase in visitor traffic compared to the previous year

  • Staff and visitors noted the space felt more welcoming and easier to navigate
